Yes. Is that a problem?

Not at all, I love snakes. Though I’ve never really been near one.

I’m sure you would simply adore Darling! She is a complete sweetheart. I’ll have to introduce someday soon.

You have a snake?

Yes. Is that a problem?

Have you been in love?
Anonymous

Only with my snake. I look forward to it. It’s supposed to be the greatest adventure of all, yes? I have my doubts about finding someone here, though.

I don’t believe I’ve seen you around here before. Then again, I haven’t been here that long myself.

I usually keep to myself, though you may not recognize me without my snake Darling.

Probably, though I doubt I ever will.

You never know. Don’t lose hope.

It’s just constant noise that they insist on playing all the time.

It’s not that bad. Maybe you just aren’t used to it yet.

I wish the music would stop…

And why is that?

She’s fine. Are you looking for her? She’s on the bed -Says this nodding towards the bed where the snake lay curled up on a pillow-

*Her eyes wander to the pillow and she freezes, swallowing quietly as she turns back to the tea, taking the cup over towards Belinda* She does seem peaceful now.

She’s not scary, I promise. She’s very sweet. -She says as she takes the cup of tea and takes a long sip- It’s delicious, Violet. Thank you.

“On the contrary, I’m a great deal of fun; just not when I’m sleep deprived.” As Belinda mentioned the possibility of lighting another candle, Darcy sighed. With a careless toss, he returned the flame to the wick. He pushed off of the door-frame, crossing the room again, this time to claim a chair. Darcy turned the chair, leaning against the back he stared at Belinda. He blinked, trying to banish the sleep fatigue that sought to overtake him. “It seems I’ll have to sit here then, until you relinquish all candles, matches, lanterns and and other related paraphernalia.” Darcy tried a tired grin, resting his chin upon the chair-back.

She gave him a small smile and shook her head. “You have yet to prove that to me. So I will continue to assume that you are not fun.” Belinda’s smile grew when Darcy returned the fire to it’s rightful place on her candle. His special tricks had never ceased to amaze her, though she would never tell him that lest his ego get even larger. Her eyebrows rose when he actually sat on a chair stating his intentions of remaining there. “Well, I don’t imagine that happening anytime soon, so I suppose you are stuck here. Though you do realize how improper this is, I trust.”

No, no reason at all. Just a sleepless night. Darling woke a bit ago and quickly fell asleep after she was certain I would be up for a while yet.

Is she alright? *tilts her head a bit, looking around for the snake while preparing the tea. Honestly she was a little frightened by it.

She’s fine. Are you looking for her? She’s on the bed -Says this nodding towards the bed where the snake lay curled up on a pillow-
